Tam Coc Bich Dong tourist area, also known by famous names such as “Ha Long Bay on land” or “Nam Thien De Nhi Dong” is a famous tourist area of Ninh Binh. The whole area includes a system of limestone caves and historical sites related to Vu Lam palace of the Tran dynasty located mainly in Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu. Trang An – Tam Coc landscape complex is classified as a special national relic and has been ranked as a world heritage by UNESCO.
Tam Coc means Three caves, also known as Xuyen Thuy cave, located in Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu. In the past, this area was a sea of waves that over the centuries eroded the cliffs to create strange shapes.
Located on National Highway 1A, the section between Ninh Binh city and Tam Diep town, Tam Coc – Bich Dong tourist area is a tourist complex, put into investment and tourism exploitation the earliest in Vietnam. The whole area includes a system of caves and historical sites from the Tran dynasty. The first is Bich Dong – the name of a beautiful cave, placed by Prime Minister Nguyen Nghiem (father of the great poet Nguyen Du) in 1773. Next to it is Bich Dong Pagoda, an ancient temple associated with rocky mountains.
Beautiful places when traveling to Tam Coc Bich Dong by boat
Want to visit Tam Coc, visitors get off the boat from the central wharf. Boats take visitors on the Ngo Dong river winding through the cliffs, trans-water caves, rice fields. Travel time and return is about 2 hours. The scenery of Tam Coc, especially the two sides of the Ngo Dong River, can change according to the rice season (green rice, golden rice or silver color of the water in the field).
Thien Huong Cave
Thien Huong Cave is located on the road from Ngo Dong River to Thai Vi Temple, is a dry and bright cave located halfway up the mountain with an altitude of about 15 m above the ground. The cave is about 60 m high, 40 m deep, and 20 m wide. The top of the cave is hollow, so the cave is also called Troi Cave. Nestled in the cave is a shrine dedicated to Tran Thi Dung, wife of King Ly Hue Tong. Is a person who has taught the people of Ninh Hai commune the craft of embroidery.
Xuyen Thuy Dong
Xuyen Thuy Cave is a dark and flooded cave located along the length of Bich Dong massif. Xuyen Thuy is like a semicircular stone pipe about 350 m long winding from the east to the west. The average width of Xuyen Thuy Dong is 6m, the widest place is 15m. The ceiling and walls of the cave are usually flat, creating like a large stone slab arranged into a dome, a semicircle with various shapes.
Linh Coc Pagoda
Linh Coc pagoda is located in Moc pagoda mountain. The pagoda faces west, in front is a water field. According to the epitaph placed in the temple, Linh Coc dates from the reign of King Tran Thanh Tong. The temple yard is large at the foot of the mountain, on both sides of the yard there is an ancestral church. 3 compartments facing the northwest, placing statues to worship the saints who are A Nam Da and the western ancestor, with a high nose, curly hair, beard and beard are Indians. The house has 5 rooms, facing southeast.
Dien Mau has its back to the mountainside, southwest direction, built in the font “Tam”. The harem is a pavilion to worship the Holy Mother Goddess, including: Mother Thuong Ngan, Mother Thoai, and Mother Lieu Hanh. Burning incense consists of 3 halls to worship the Holy Mother Community, 5 compartments of Tien Duong, the last one on the left hand side has a bell hanging.
