Duyen Ninh Pagoda is located in a relatively convenient location for tourists, the pagoda is 4km from Am Tien Cave in the direction from Trang An to Bai Dinh Pagoda, very close to King Dinh Tien Hoang Temple.

According to recorded documents, this is an ancient temple, built in the 10th century under King Dinh Tien Hoang. According to legend, Duyen Ninh pagoda was the place where the princesses of the Dinh – Le dynasties used to go back and forth.

According to recorded history, here, princess Le Thi Phat Ngan and general Ly Cong Uan swore an oath there to give birth to Ly Phat Ma (later King Ly Thai Tong) in the year 1000. Later when Ly Thai When Tong returned here to quell the rebellion, Khai Quoc Vuong changed the name of the pagoda to Duyen Ninh pagoda.

At the end of her life, Empress Phat Ngan came here to practice and look after the grave of her father, Emperor Le Dai Hanh. Here, the Queen cooperated for many couples to become a couple and since then Duyen Ninh has become a temple to pray for luck in the ancient capital of Hoa Lu.

Later, when Ly Thai Tong returned here to quell the rebellion, Khai Quoc Vuong changed the name of the pagoda to Duyen Ninh pagoda.

After 1,000 years of existence, the ancient architecture of the temple is almost gone. Because it is located between two famous tourist destinations, Trang An and Bai Dinh pagoda, Duyen Ninh pagoda is known by many people, especially young people who want to pray for good luck in the road of love.
