Duyen Ninh Pagoda’s construction began in the 10th century, during the reign of King Dinh Tien Hoang. The destination is located in the Hoa Lu ancient capital relic area, right next to Trang An Avenue, Ninh Binh. This is where Princess Phat Ngan made a vow and got married to Ly Cong Uan (later King Ly Thai To).

Some time later, the princess gave birth to Ly Phat Ma (King Ly Thai Tong) at the pagoda on July 29, 1000. Later, the pagoda was officially renamed Duyen Ninh Pagoda by Ly Thai Tong, this is also the name that has been handed down and is most commonly used to date.

In the last years of her life, Queen Le Thi Phat Ngan often returned to Hoa Lu to help people repair and build temples. On the one hand, it was to be with his son Ly Long Bo, who was just over 10 years old when he was appointed king here, and on the other hand, it was to take care of the tomb of Emperor Le Dai Hanh.
