Explore Bird Islands in Ninh Binh
When mentioning Ninh Binh, many people will immediately think of famous tourist destinations such as Trang An, Hoa Lu Ancient Capital or Tam Coc Bich Dong… Along with the above famous tourist attractions, when coming to Ninh Binh, tourists You can also discover the unique “stork islands” in this ancient capital.
When talking about “stork island” in Ninh Binh, perhaps the first thing to mention is Thung Nham Bird Garden Tourist Area (also known as Thung Chim) in Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province. This place is located in the core area of the famous Trang An scenic complex and very close to Tam Coc Bich Dong tourist area.
This place fully converges cultural and spiritual elements as well as biodiversity landscape. The entire Thung Nham Bird Park Tourist Area is surrounded by tropical forest strips on limestone mountains, with many caves and valleys blending with nature, plants and flowers.
In particular, when coming here, visitors will discover the lives of nearly 40 bird species with a number of up to 50,000 birds. Every time sunset comes, flocks of white storks fly around the entire wetland, creating an amazing wild beauty that is hard to find anywhere else.
Next is “stork island” in Van Long Wetland Conservation Area, (Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh). This is the largest wetland area in the Northern Delta.
Van Long Lagoon is surrounded by a limestone mountain system with beautiful caves and typical vegetation of the limestone mountain ecosystem. The wetland area is wide and flat like a giant mirror that looks to the bottom.
In this nature reserve, there are currently over 450 species of higher plants (8 species are recorded in the Vietnam Red Book); 39 animal species (including 12 rare species).
Tourists come to visit here, sitting on bamboo boats, immersing themselves in the nature of the river, in addition visitors can also explore “stork island” with thousands of flying birds and white perches throughout the area.
In addition to the two unique and famous “stork islands” above, in Ninh there is a third “stork island” that is no less unique, which is the garden of more than 2 hectares of the couple Ha Van Lam and Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen ( residing in Gia Lac commune, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh). For many years, he and his wife have spent their own money bidding on a land area of more than 2 hectares to plant trees and provide shelter for thousands of storks.
