To get to Van Trinh Cave, you have to climb 205 steps. Van Trinh Cave is divided into two small, staggered caves, Thuong Cave and Ha Cave. Thuong Cave has a floor of about 150m2, with small, undulating stalactites creating human-like shapes. At the top of the cave, there is a skylight called the heavenly eye, which means the meeting of yin and yang, the harmony of heaven and earth. Below is the Lower Cave, which is divided into two small caves by a stalactite screen wall nearly 7m high. On the wall, there are many diverse shapes such as clouds, mountains and rivers, creating a beautiful sculpture. Vai Gioi Cave is located in a unique location, on the top of a high mountain, 88 meters above the ground, and to reach the cave, visitors must climb 439 stone steps. “Vải” in the cave’s name means the act of bowin to show respect, while ” Thiên” is an ancient Vietnamese word synonymous with “heaven”. Vai Gioi Cave has long been an important spiritual site, where people in the Hoa Lu area often hold rituals to worship heaven to pray for favorable weather and bountiful crops. Inside Vai Gioi Cave, there are many special stalactites, such as traces of animal teeth, fish bones, etc., making visitors feel like they are lost in an archaeological cave with many ancient relics. The “early” floor of the cave has many flat stone blocks, as if representing the simple, peaceful life of reality. Meanwhile, the hell floor contains many stone blocks with special shapes, such as Nai Ha Bridge, Tam Sinh Thach, and Diem Vuong throne, ect.
